intellectual perception - え、こだまの世界?

思想史の勉強(リハビリ中)。こんな本を読む人はオレ以外いないだろうが、たまたま本棚で見かけたので(買ったのは2001年ロンドンで)。以下、イントロを読んだメモ。

ルターの`reason is the Devil's harlot'。かっこいい。奴隷意志論にあるようだが、英訳では見つからなかった。
ガリレオの「世界という本は数学的言語で書かれている」。道理でよくわからないはずだ。政治や倫理は数学的言語で書かれてないと良いのだが。
合理論の伝統では、現象については、感覚による知覚によって知られ、実在については、知的な知覚によって知られる(`Sense-perception informs us about appearance; Intellectual Perception about reality.'(p. 18)。なるほど。`The rationalist held that there are necessary facts; that, in at least some ways, the world could not possibly be otherwise than it is.' (p. 20)とか、17世紀の合理論者の世界観はすごいよな。
`The idea that the universe is a collection of contingencies, accessible only to observation and induction, is an eighteenth-century novelty.' (p. 21) こういう経験論に慣れているからか。
